Utopian Lie
He watched it and he cheered aloud
to show the color. You do the task
with shining glory and a laughing crowd
and the face behind the smiling mask.
The hungry, eager on a rock
trying to grow on the waves
and as the exterior fades
to destroy the hearts and rise with the spades
to bar up the windows and shut out the light
then light their torches; holding them high.
Oh, and with all their utopian might,
they will all stand up and live for the lie.
