Untie Lullaby

Daily inventory

rains down on me,

thrust into a sea

of wretched guilt,

Crying under a tree

dark and bare

and leafless.

and there goes a comet

amid a midnight breeze.

Rocks under my knees,

they're sharp,

while unsung

are the inner pleas.

Plea a case

to the courts

on high

as the sea

of tears

goes dry

and the story

heaves a sigh.

It's never

dishonest

but it's never

as promised.

It's only

admonished

as mirrors crack

in their eyes.

But angels

do hover.

they shelter.

they cover,

their mercy

a mother

when the sea goes dry

and the tears

roll wry

There passes many years

with people running from their fears

never cradling

the dear

for their lullaby

to hum near.

But broken in the darkness

playing a fiddle

humming a riddle

now the tears begin

to drizzle

warmly

as one awakes

To feel a mess

now lying there

in torn up dress

fallen out of a nest

that was bare

nevertheless

So build one with new sticks.

Build one with

cracked and chapped

lips

delivering

a tender kiss

of hope

loosening

the fastened rope

For round and round

it tied

both round the neck

and hide

and round and round

the tears had gone dry.

when the tears go wry

because you think

you can never untie,

My oh my …

find the notes

in the sky.

Find the true

Lullaby
