Little Squirrel
Little squirrel collecting
acorns, fruition,
and after the mission
she curls up in a ball
for she wants it all,
and she wants to crawl
into her burrow
by darkest nightfall.
But she mustn't for long.
There’s another reason
to chirp her song.
She collects by the light,
clever at flipping plight,
little with a will of might.
Her family needs her so,
and love she wants to show
but
she’s in and around,
and she’s upside down
sometimes
on the branches high,
not safe and sound,
though she’ll get back down
to the earth, to the ground.
She can’t allow
the love too close,
but she doesn’t mean to boast,
batting her eyes,
chirping her wishes.
She’s actually quite skittish…
Little squirrel, breathe.
Little squirrel, receive
the destined flow.
You don’t need to know
you’re safe; just go.
